The Bilingual Authorization Program at California Baptist University prepares preliminary teaching credential holders to teach in K–12 Spanish bilingual and dual immersion classrooms. Combining coursework with hands-on experiences in bilingual settings, the program builds expertise in TK–12 program models while integrating the Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs) and Bilingual Teaching Performance Expectations (BTPEs). Authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), the BILA qualifies educators to provide instruction to English Learners (ELs) across a range of instructional settings. Candidates who complete the Preliminary Education Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate Support Needs are certified to teach students with a range of special needs. Teachers with this credential are approved to teach in grades K-12 and in adult classes. This credential prepares candidates to teach students with a range of learning challenges, including autism, moderate-to-severe intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, emotional disturbance, and deaf-blindness.
